DeArmond "Silver Sparkle" with Bigsby Tremolo

In 2003, a local luthier and friend of mine named Steve Kubika was able to get access to a pallet-full of DeArmond guitars, as the company (a division of Fender) was being closed down. The rumor I heard was the quality of these guitars was so good it was starting to compete at an unintended price point against the rest of the Fender line and, accordingly, Fender decided to stop their production. Steve told me these guitars would be a great investment, and he turned out to be right as their current market price is now at least 3 times what I paid for each of the three guitars I bought. Why did I buy three? They each were all so beautiful I wanted to buy 10. Check out the Guild-type pickups and Bigsby Tremolo, not to mention the gorgeous finishes on these guitars. They all feel, play, sound and look great. I bought this particular guitar at the same time as the other two – frankly, I now wish I had bought 7 more to make 10.
